T B JAYAH
Tuan Burhanuddin Jayah or Dr. T.B Jayah was born on January 1st in 1890 in Galagedara, Sri lanka. He was an educationalist, politician, diplomat and Muslim community leader in Sri lanka and specially he was a sri lankan national hero. He was attended to the St. Paula's college, kandy for his education in 1904.
He was a well built person. The fair skin and his average body, gave him honorable look. He was medium size and fat.
When, he finished his secondary education, he passed his junior and senior examinations with merits and he became a school teacher.
He started his first job as a teacher at Dharmaraja college, kandy in 1910. After a short time he moved to the Prince of whales college and he worked as the principal of Zahira college for 27 years. He entered politics a few years after following his first job as a teacher. Then, he was elected to the parliment. He was also a founding member of the United National Party and became the minister of labour in the first independent government of Sri lanka. After he retired from politics finally, he became the high commissioner of Sri lanka in Pakistan.
I admire this person, because of his priceless service for the educational field and all Sri lankan poor labours. He was a great person who served the poor workers and Sri lankan people. He died on 31st May in 1960 in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
